Sample Leadership Project Implementation of $500K Billing System
Lead Project Manager for the implementation of a $500K clinical documentation and billing system.
Hired as consultant, reported to CFO.
Chaired a 10 member cross-disciplinary team of representatives from all areas of the organization to gather requirements, feedback, and ensure a thorough and successful implementation.
Hired and fired temps and consultants, wrote performance reviews for inhouse staff, and provided recommendations for employee hiring and dismissals.
Served as interim billing manager / finance director for 6 months while new replacements were found.
Wrote detailed requirements for clinical / billing system.
Managed all of the interactions with internal IS department and outside software development firm including supervision of work and approval of invoices.
Created inhouse developer positions to lower long term development costs. Performed candidate search, interviewed candidates, selected candidates. Provided technical training and mentorship for new developers.
Provided hands-on assistance with technical aspects of the implementation including changes in SQL Server, new screens and reports, changes to the system data model, queries, macros, and Visual Basic programming.
Presented project status reports to President and all Vice-Presidents at monthly Executive Team meetings.
Project had been desired for several years and had previously failed 3 times by both inhouse and outside resources due to complexity and mismanagement.
Successfully completed the project on time and in 6 months.
Ongoing IT support costs have decreased significantly as a result of inhouse developers and improved communication with outside software development firm.
By client request, continued to provide additional project management services until all inhouse resources were fully trained and new billing operations were formalized.
